A keen bird-watcher has near-total paralysis of her right hand. She had been finding it impossible to hold her binoculars steady, and wanted a device to attach them to her head and adjust them using her left hand only.
The client uses an AI app on her iPad to read documents. Unfortunately the iPad has to be held very still when capturing the image and she was struggling with this (ad so did I when I tried it out). Her OT contacted us as asked if we could make a stand to hold the iPad and an A4 sized document so that she can have it read to her.
The client plays a guitar and is also visually impaired and a friend had discovered a modified guitar tuner on the internet that had an audible indication using an Arduino micro-controller to interpret the indicators and send sequences of sounds to an earpiece, he asked us to make a similar device.

An activity board for a special school
The Client , a lady, had lost both hands and feet due to sepsis. A stairlift had been installed in her house but there were two small steps to be negotiated dor which she required assistance.
The client is mostly paralysed from the neck down except that he can move one arm but has minimal grip. The only way he could press the buttons on the hand held bed controller was to bite the buttons with his teeth.
A Derby school, which specialises in students having special needs, finds that their students are more comfortable with practical rather than academic subjects. Basic car maintenance is one course on offer and, at the request of the school, the Derby Remap panel made a classroom teaching aid to enable students to be taught how to safely remove and refit a car wheel.
Our client, with tetraplegia, is able to manipulate his arms enough in order to push and pull and very lightly hook (or hold) objects in his otherwise immobile fingers. He has sufficient patience and skill to use a sewing machine to make rubber padded gloves to protect the hands of fellow wheelchair users.
