Folding Changing unit

0

The challenge

The child was too large for the existing changing unit, but the available space was very limited, and a larger unit would not fit in the available space. Extending the existing unit was the only option.

The folding frame of the existing unit was made from sections bolted together. The frame ends were connected by using 4 metal tubes.

The frame folding ends were unbolted so that aluminium section could be inserted to increase length. The 4 tubes were extended with smaller diameter aluminium tube section using pop rivets. Each tube was inserted into a full length white plastic tube, forming a hygienic solution.

The top cover was extended by using the same material from the lower fabric tray, and fitted using Velcro.

Photo below shows the original unit.

The benefit

Mum has a changing unit which she can continue to use in their small bathroom, and which is now large enough for the child.
