Short child’s access steps

Project  / Project number: 18.41  /  Status:

The challenge

The solution

A set of steps were made that had to be narrow enough to fit between the toilet and the wall when not in use.  They had to be on castors so the child could move them unaided.  The front castor was sprung loaded so when the child stood on the steps they touched the floor and didn’t move.

The benefit

Child was able to use the toilet without his parents having to lift him on.  He could also wash his hands afterwards. A toilet roll holder was fitted to the steps handle.

The spring-loaded caster used this spring method: which are quite expensive. These brake loaded casters : intended for office chairs which might prove a cheaper solution for the future.
