Marion has left-side weakness after a stroke and was experiencing difficulties keeping her foot on the left pedal of her exercise bike. The foot needed to be held in the correct position with no risk of sharp corners or hard material making contact with the foot. It must be possible to place the foot into it with ease and to then lock the foot in position and release it again using one hand only.
The foot strap as provided with the exercise bike was removed and a “hospital” type sandal/shoe was fitted instead. This had a heel guard which held Marion’s foot in position plus Velcro straps over the top which she could adjust readily to prevent her foot slipping out.
Marion is now able to exercise with much more confidence.
