Our client has difficulty with normal cutlery and wanted some which were as light as possible and with thin handles. She wanted the fork ans spoon to be angled. She had tried various commercially available products but , although some were light, these had very large handles.
The client has sever back problems and needed a kitchen stool with custom back support. A structure was made with two additional back support pads and fixed to the existing stool frame.
A bespoke tray to fit to a Rascal Rio indoor wheelchair and assist the client with moving meals from her kitchen. The project also required a change to the programming of the chair speed controller to make it more suitable for the tight turns in the house – and this was undertaken by a dealer.
The client had a major stroke and lost use of her left hand but still lives independently and wished to be able to prepare fruit and vegetables, specifically melon. A worktop-mounted vice, operated by leaning forward, allows food to be held while being prepared.
The client has dwarfism and is just 3ft 2″. This impacts on many daily living tasks around the home which she shares with her parents. Now into her fifties the client needs help getting on/off her the sofa, getting in/out of bed and to be able to access the kitchen worktop and sink safely. We developed bespoke equipment to enable the client to do this
Using the gas cooker, whilst seated in powered wheelchair. Client has burned herself burned /scalded herself moving the pots on the gas cooker.
Client can position wheelchair comfortably up to and underneath the gas cooker, she has some weakness in her hands which may have contributed to her difficulties moving the pots

Client with foot neuropathy needed a clear tray on his wheeled walker, so that he could see his feet, thus preventing tripping.
The capability to prepare food is a key marker for an independent life but, unless you are going to live on cold food, that means cooking. What could be easier? A temperature sensor and a relay and some bespoke interfacing. Except – ovens, especially built-in ones, are hostile environments for electronics.

Client with Muscular Dystrophy has difficulty holding cup, solution was a 3D printed cup holder. This final solution required several iterations using plastic mould and other trial items before reaching a satisfactory conclusion
The client lives alone in a bungalow and is having problems getting her meals from the kitchen to the lounge. The OT and client had tried a smaller metal tray and was asking for handles to be fitted to the tray.
This is a modification to the Homecraft Rolyan Pick-Up Reacher.
The problem with the standard grabber is that it only pinches the sides of an object if you pick it up from lying down. The modification with wider jaws and a design that curves round means that it can get underneath the object to ‘scoop’ it… making it easier to pick up (and also maintain hold with a weaker grip).
This is a handle which is designed to clip onto a BT 4600 DECT Phone to aid grip. It is for those with weaker hands and/or limited mobility, and means that if grip is lost, the phone remains in the hand rather than dropping.
