A woman had an above the knee amputation and need a detachable stump support
Our client had a (congenital) shortened left forearm (without hand) and required a walking aid for use with her left arm to relieve pain in her right hip whilst waiting for a joint replacement . After experimenting with fitting a “socket” to a rollator and then a gutter arm crutch, a modified elbow crutch was found to be best -improving her mobility and relieving the pressure on her right hip and consequently her pain. In due course this device would also be essential in her post-op rehabilitation when she would require the use of two crutches.
People in wheelchairs and with walkers find it difficult or impossible to open self closing doors such as fire doors in homes. Commercial door openers are very expensive.
This doll was created at the request of the local Children’s Hospital after a child asked for a doll “just like Her”.
The capability to prepare food is a key marker for an independent life but, unless you are going to live on cold food, that means cooking. What could be easier? A temperature sensor and a relay and some bespoke interfacing. Except – ovens, especially built-in ones, are hostile environments for electronics.

The lady had suffered from sepsis and, as a consequence, had lost both hands and both feet. The NHS were able to provide a wheelchair and later prosthetic legs but had little to offer in the short term to provide hand functions. We were able to provide basic implements to enable her to feed herself, brush her hair, and to write birthday cards and sign cheques.

Reuben, aged 6, is in P2. Born without legs, he needs a way to get from his wheelchair to the toilet. Working with his OT, Remap NI made a transfer board. This needs to be supported on a frame; this was built from aluminium alloy tube salvaged from no fewer than sixteen discarded crutches. The board itself is chipboard; it has layers of foam and padding all covered in furniture grade polyurethane. Reuben launched himself on to the board without hesitation; he is one happy boy with a new degree of independence.
A one-handed snooker player required a rest for his cue that could allow him to play his shots, but also be easy to move one-handed about the table.
This sip/puff actuator was developed from an original design from the Herefordshire Panel, the electrical circuits and motor are exactly the same as the Herefordshire Panel Device.
